Challenge: Establishing the Brand as the Leader in the European Market
Before working with Embed, one of Veltmeijer Group’s ongoing challenges was creating a unique experience for its guests at each of its locations while simultaneously future-proofing the business and reinforcing their position as a leader in the European market. Roger Tubée, known for his commitment to the industry’s evolution and being a technology pioneer, was a key stakeholder in overcoming this challenge. He enlisted the help of Embed to develop competitive solutions and offerings for his guests.
Veltmeijer Group partnered with Embed for its hardware and software solutions, including kiosks, game card readers, game cards, point of sale machines, prize redemption system, and central games management software that connects games across multiple FECs. It’s all integrated by a business software that enables clear business visibility, tracking, and reporting.

A crucial aspect of this is implementing innovative technologies as they take their business to the next level – including Embed’s industry-leading technology. Veltmeijer Group installed Embed’s award-winning smartTOUCH readers, featuring the message, “Please Clean This Game After Use,” further validating the pandemic’s impact on the family entertainment industry and their elevated cleaning protocols with stricter cleaning schedules. Customers can skip the lines at any of their locations by using one of Embed’s self-service Kiosks to purchase, reload, or register game cards.
Further proving their commitment to being technology pioneers, Veltmeijer Group is exploring contactless solutions at their venue. By offering Embed’s Mobile Wallet, a virtual game card that guests can add to Apple Wallet and Google Pay, Veltmeijer Group provides their customers with a fully contact-free payment and FEC experience. Guests have immediate access to balance information, ticket counts, and more.
“When we first saw the Mobile Wallet at the IAAPA Orlando show, we were very enthusiastic about it. Technologically, we thought it was very advanced [Embed’s Mobile Wallet is the only Apple and Google certified FEC solution, making Embed gamecards the only non-finance, banking, or loyalty card in the consumer’s mobile wallet] and we have been working hard to ensure we can incorporate the technology,” said Tubée. “We are now ready to enroll the Mobile Wallet. Within a few months, we will have it in all the Gamestate locations, with the holiday park locations to follow.”

Despite the pandemic’s uncertainty, the Veltmeijer’s family history within the industry, coupled with the industry’s resilience, gave Tubée the confidence to proceed with Veltmeijer Group’s strategic growth plans. Veltmeijer Group progressed with its business expansion by remodeling and opening 9 locations across different parts of Europe, including the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.
